a final journey conducted with dignity and love
funeral Celebrant In Cumbria
I specialise in creating unique personalised ceremonies, tailored to you and to your family's particular beliefs and wishes. I recognise the importance of honouring the life of the one you have recently lost, and of reflecting the character and personality of your loved one, and the ethos and beliefs of you, the family.
You can include whatever you wish in the way of readings and music to create the mood for a ceremony and I work with families who wish for a ceremony style that is humanist, spiritual, religious, or non-religious. You can incorporate any religious or non-religious readings, poetry, and music to set the tone for the ceremony that is appropriate to you.
I feel that it is important for you at this time that you should feel absolutely comfortable with all that happens and all that is said within the ceremony, so an individual 'script' will be created which you will be able to view, approve and change in accordance with your wishes. I recognise the importance of marking this occasion with respect, dignity, affection and perhaps humour, and that a funeral is a very personal, individual thing.
Yes, it can help to make a funeral ceremony very personal and meaningful if members of the family or friends would like to share their own stories of happy times spent in the company of the departed. But if you would feel more comfortable with that being done by me, a professional, that is, equally, perfectly acceptable.
I can perform the ceremony for you in a crematorium, in a graveyard or cemetery, at a natural woodland burial site, or in a private place - your home, or somewhere you might hire for your private use, such as a village hall; or in a religious building with the permission of the clergyperson normally in charge of that place.
Normally about 2-5 days. After making contact with me, either directly or through your funeral director, I would visit you and talk through all your thoughts and wishes for the funeral service for your loved one. Often it is requested that I include reminiscences and memories from family members in a eulogy during the service. After gathering everyone's contributions and thoughts and decisions I would be ready to write the funeral ceremony itself.
